South Canyon Elementary is a cozy neighborhood school built in 1953. It is tucked away between West Chicago Street and West Main Street.
The student population is normally close to 300 and there are two classrooms for each grade level.
South Canyon has the reputation of being a school that has high expectations, yet also cares for the students as individuals. We are very proud of how our staff gets to know each child and works diligently to meet their unique needs.
We are a proud PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) school which means we focus on creating a positive school climate where students feel safe, productive, and supported. The students, staff, and administration at South Canyon work hard to make our school one of the best elementary schools in the Rapid City Area School District.
