Monday October 13th is Native American/Indigenous Peoples Day. There is a parade on Saturday October 11th. See attached flyer for more information.
Note: Please remember that phones and watches are not to be used by students to contact parents on their own during the school day. If a student is not feeling well, they need to check in with their teacher, come to the nurse’s office if necessary and the office can contact you. If you have made a plan with your student to “try” school (if they don’t have a fever for example) but to come to the nurse if still not feeling well, then let us know of that plan so we can adjust our care accordingly. And a reminder about nurse visits: Teachers do their best to address student needs before sending them to the nurse. Attached are the guidelines we follow for when a student should see the nurse. We do our best to take care of the students in school, and we also will notify the guardian when appropriate.
September is Attendance Awareness month! This week we had something special to celebrate! On Wednesday September 24th, we had 100% attendance, meaning EVERY. SINGLE. STUDENT here at South Canyon came to school. Way to go parents for getting your kids to school and way to go kids for showing up! Let’s keep it up!

Coming to school is so important - if a student misses 2 days per month, that translates to over a whole year of school missed by graduation.

Save the Date for the South Canyon’s Craft Fair! October 18th 9am-2pm
Registration is now open to all interested vendors for the 14th annual South Canyon Craft Fair on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025! This year, we're using an online registration process for the first time. If your student will be tardy for any reason, please call the office to notify us ASAP and to order your student’s lunch choice (A or B).
FEEDING SD:
Children may receive a bag of nutritious, easy-to-prepare foods during weekends and holidays when school is not in session. If you feel your child would benefit from receiving a FeedingSD BackPack bag, please complete the attached form or call the office to let us know. You may email the completed form to patricia.scarborough@k12.sd.us, or turn it in to the office. The mobile food distribution schedule is at the bottom of the form.
Parking/Traffic: We urge you to please be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE during drop off and pickup!
Park in the correct direction
Do not pull over on the opposite side of the street.
DO NOT park across cross walks, in the bus parking area or in front of fire hydrants.
Be aware of foot traffic in the parking lot during pickup
Do not block parked cars from being able to leave.
Be Patient and Drive SLOWLY!
